URBANA – A Rantoul man who allegedly sold drugs to people working with police has been charged.
William Jordan, 41, of the 1800 block of Gleason Drive, was charged Thursday with possession with intent to deliver heroin, a Class 1 felony.
According to a report from the Champaign County Street Crimes Task Force, authorities obtained a search warrant at a residence in the 1200 block of Northwood Drive North in Champaign, where Jordan lived after allegedly selling heroin and fentanyl.
Just after 6 a.m. Wednesday, officers conducted a court-authorized search of the home and Jordan’s car. They found 14 plastic bags of suspected heroin weighing more than 5 grams in the car. In the bedroom they found a digital scale and about $2,000 in cash, some of which had been pre-recorded and given to an informant to buy drugs.
Noting that Jordan has two pending cases of possession with intent to supply heroin and cannabis, and six previous drug convictions, Judge Ramona Sullivan set bail at $350,000 and told him to return to court on August 24.
Another person who admitted to using cocaine in the house and allegedly had one gram was warned to appear in court at a later date.
